Find Washington Court Dates

Start with the court named on your notice or citation. That one detail tells you whether your Washington County court date sits in District Court or Justice Court, and the clerk of that court holds the calendar you need. A court date search begins there. The public calendar lists each scheduled hearing with its date, time, courtroom, judge, setting type, and whether you must appear in person. It is not the same as the court docket, which records what has been filed in the case, and settings can shift or fall away. When an entry looks unclear, reset, canceled, or urgent, confirm it with the court that holds the case.

Washington County Court Calendars Explained

The Utah Courts calendar is a free statewide search for settings. Its legacy interface lets you look up a case number, a party name, or a judge. It also accepts an attorney's first or last name, a bar number, a date, or a location. Washington County users should not treat the county as one shared list. Pick the right local location first. Your choices include St. George District Court, Washington County Justice Court, Hildale Justice Court, Hurricane Justice Court, Santa Clara Justice Court, and Washington City Justice Court. You can sort results by judge, case name, or date and time, then print them. The state says full online court calendars have replaced PDF calendars. A municipal page might still carry venue-specific calendar material. But trust the current state result and the clerk above all.

Six Washington County Calendar Locations

Washington County court dates split by court and jurisdiction. The Fifth Judicial District calendar handles District Court settings in St. George. County and municipal Justice Courts each run their own limited-jurisdiction calendar. All six locations serve county residents. Even so, a hearing will not slide into one combined county list.

Calendar location Typical docket Check with
St. George District Court Felony, class A, ordinary civil, domestic, probate Fifth District Clerk
Washington County Justice Court County misdemeanors, traffic, infractions, small claims County Justice Court
Hildale or Hurricane Venue-specific Justice Court cases Named municipal clerk
Santa Clara or Washington City Venue-specific Justice Court cases Named municipal clerk

Your citation, filed notice, or case history should name the venue. Search St. George District Court for a city citation and you may get nothing back. A valid Justice Court date can still exist in that situation.

Finding Your Court Date

Begin with the court notice or citation. A full case number is usually the strongest search input. Utah warns, though, that numbers are not unique statewide. Pair the number with the correct location to narrow the result. With no number in hand, search by public party name and date. Then compare case type, court, and setting.

  1. Read the notice or citation for the court and case number.
  2. Open the Utah calendar and select case number or party name.
  3. Choose the specific Washington County District or Justice Court location.
  4. Review date, time, mode, courtroom, judge, and setting type.
  5. Cross-check the case in Xchange when filing history is also needed.
  6. Call or visit the holding clerk if the result is absent or conflicts with notice.

The clerk counter and phone are the fallback when a setting is urgent or unclear. A public terminal at the courthouse can supply case information too. If the clerk says a daily printed calendar exists, check it there. Never trust a cached search result. Call first.

Washington County Calendar Refresh Time

Current Utah calendar language says schedules update on weekdays at 5:30 a.m. That refresh makes the Washington County court calendar a snapshot of right now. It is not a permanent record. A change entered later may not show up at once. A court order or direct clerk notice can control before the next update lands.

Timing check: Search again near the hearing, and contact the court when an online setting conflicts with a notice or recent order.

The official calendar landing page preserves the current update language and the remote-hearing warning. It is the correct source for a Washington County court date search.

How to Read a Court Setting

A Washington County calendar result combines fields that answer different questions. The case style tells you the matter. The court and location tell you the venue. Date and time fix the scheduled slot. Appearance mode says whether the event is in person, remote, or hybrid. Setting type identifies the purpose, never the result.

Date and time The current scheduled local slot, subject to reset or cancellation.
Court and location Fifth District or a named Justice Court venue.
Courtroom A room designator such as 2A, 3C, or 3D where displayed.
Judge The judicial officer assigned to the listed event.
Setting type Initial appearance, motion, review, trial, argument, or other event.
Appearance mode In person, remote, or hybrid; a link may appear for some events.

Judges and courtrooms can both change on short notice. Trust the live setting and the holding court rather than an old saved printout.

Washington County Hearing Types

Utah calendar labels are procedural. They are not outcomes. A preliminary hearing is an early felony proceeding, while a bail hearing deals with release conditions. A motion hearing considers a filed request. Oral argument lets parties address a legal issue. A trial de novo is a fresh District Court proceeding that follows a limited-court matter.

Initial appearance
The first listed court appearance for the matter.
Review hearing
A later check on status, compliance, or an existing order.
Evidentiary hearing
A proceeding at which evidence may be received.
Order to show cause
A hearing on why a stated order should not be enforced or changed.
Jury trial
A trial setting, not proof that trial occurred.

To learn what actually happened, read the later docket entry, minute entry, or order. The setting label alone cannot establish disposition.

Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations

A continuance moves a proceeding. A reset places the event at another date or time. A cancellation removes the listed event, but the case can stay active. Washington County court dates may change. The change may come by judicial order, by clerk action, or by a party request the court approves. Filing a motion does not itself cancel a scheduled appearance. Compare the online calendar against the latest notice and the Xchange case history. If a new date appears, note the court, room, mode, and setting type again. If no replacement shows up, call the venue. Keep the office name and call time for your own notes. Only the court can confirm that an appearance is excused. A missing calendar row is not proof. It does not show a Washington County case was dismissed or that a hearing obligation ended.

Washington County Remote Court Hearings

Most remote hearings in Washington County are open to the public, though access still depends on the event and the judge's direction. Some calendar entries include a Webex link. When none is listed, call the judge's team or the court handling the matter. Washington County Justice Court also posts a Webex Hearings route for its sessions.

Washington City adds a venue-specific rule. Its page requires county residents to attend Thursday Justice Court in person, while someone from outside the county may request Webex one week in advance. That rule applies only to that venue. Do not carry it over to District Court, Hurricane, Santa Clara, or other Washington County locations.

Utah's calendar guidance bans recording, photographing, or transmitting proceedings. Watching a hearing does not grant permission to stream or record it. Follow the judge's instructions and the usual courtroom limits.

Washington County Calendar Versus Docket

The calendar answers what is scheduled. The docket, through Xchange Case History/Documents, answers what has been filed or entered. A motion can land on the docket before any hearing is set. A calendar may list trial. Yet no final disposition has been entered. The two overlap, but one cannot substitute for the other.

Need Best source Limit
Current hearing Utah calendar Not proof it occurred
Filed events Xchange case history May omit restricted material
Official outcome Minute entry or order from clerk Copy or certification fees may apply
Older file Clerk or Utah State Archives Electronic detail may be limited

If You Miss a Court Setting

Act promptly. What happens next depends on the case type and the judge's order. Contact the exact Washington County court named on the notice or calendar. Explain that the setting was missed. Ask what the docket now shows. Paying a balance, leaving a message, or filing a request does not by itself clear a warrant or excuse an appearance.

Missed setting: Washington County's Justice Court FAQ says an active warrant remains active until full bail is paid or the person is seen by a judge. Call the court for current instructions.

The county Justice Court FAQ points people to court staff during stated business hours. It lists a separate BCI contact for other warrant questions. Those directions cover that venue only. A District Court or municipal Justice Court case goes through its own clerk.

Before calling, gather a few items. Bring the case number, the missed date, the setting type, and any notice received. Ask whether a new date has been entered. Ask whether a filed order must be obtained. Urgent questions belong with the court itself, not a general county office.

Washington County Federal Calendar Split

What about a federal hearing tied to Washington County? It will not appear in the Utah state calendar. The St. George Federal Courthouse serves the District of Utah's Southern Region. Federal docket and schedule work runs through federal CM/ECF, PACER, and the District Court clerk. Bankruptcy matters take the federal Bankruptcy Court route too. That applies even when the hearing happens in St. George.

Read the heading on your notice before searching. "United States District Court" or "Bankruptcy Court" means the federal system. "Fifth Judicial District" or a named Justice Court means Utah's calendar. Checking jurisdiction first is often faster. It beats repeating a party-name search in the wrong database.
